CONCEPT & DESIGN
A cocktail bar and restaurant mixing history and modernity, a home for bon vivants and seekers of uncharted experiences in one of Spain’s most unspoiled regions.
Named after the bohemian freethinkers of the 1950s and ’60s, Beatnik Country House channels the beatnik generation’s sense of style, aspiration and rebellion to create an exotic escape with maximalist interiors, lush gardens, ingredient-led cocktails and globally inspired cuisine.
Mirroring our design-through-storytelling whimsy, Beatnik’s culinary team takes guests on a journey without borders, playing with flavors and ingredients from Israel, Lebanon and Morocco on the Mediterranean then across the Atlantic to Mexico and Peru in the Americas.
Beatnik’s award-winning beverage team, led by industry vanguard Brian Sturgulewski, finds a fine balance between relaxed and attentive service, with a team that elevates the experience with a culinary approach to craft cocktails. Drinks are savory and fresh, with inventive recipes that follow a no-waste sensibility by utilizing kitchen leftovers or ingredients found in our gardens or the cocktails they adorn. Non-alcoholic drinks have been a mainstay of the beverage program since day one, with spirit-free cocktails that share the same flavorful, colorful and fun originality as our spirit-friendly creations.
Our wine cellar is filled with a boutique collection of wines from the best winemakers in Galicia, the Iberian Peninsula and the islands of the Atlantic and Mediterranean. Our list represents a new generation of iconoclastic winemakers. These progressive winemakers offer immensely personal expressions that embrace ancestral techniques, indigenous grape varietals and the idiosyncrasies of their landscape.
Beatnik Country House’s aesthetic is driven by a triumphant fusion of three destinations close to our heart: Morocco for its opulent combinations of color and artistic passion, the Mediterranean countryside for its bucolic splendor and Italy for a healthy dose of polish and panache to sex it all up. Beatnik Country House features a one-of-a-kind collection of furniture and fittings by some of the 20th and 21st century’s most exciting designers and master artisans. From Milan and Murano to Jaén, Tashkent and Marrakech, they include Patricia Urquiola, Vincent Van Duysen, Rodolfo Dordoni, Gio Ponti, Yabu Pushelberg, John Pawson, Foster + Partners and Soufiane Zarib.
Guests have the option of dining and drinking in one of three distinct spaces – the Salon, Terraza or Pool House. The “Salon”, perhaps our coziest room and our favorite place to enjoy a beverage, was designed around a 300-year-old hearth and a cocktail bar fashioned from a single block of Angolan granite. The “Terraza”, ideal for lazy lunches and dinners, boasts a sunny outdoor patio and a spectacular indoor courtyard with a retractable glass roof, large stone fireplace, wall-to-wall handmade cement tiles by Popham Design and a resident DJ playing vinyl. The “Pool House”, located next to our saltwater pool and daybeds, is a covered outdoor restaurant and bar offering the perfect setting during warmer days for weekend brunches and weekly lunches and dinners. Featuring a main bar clad in a Moroccan “firehouse red” zellige tile, the Pool House is a lively poolside space with weekly DJ sets.
